I recently made a few adjustments to this site… It seems like an ongoing project that will probably never stop, maybe someday it’ll be just the way I think I want it… I suppose it’s a good thing that I’m never quite satisfied with it… I added a section that’s never been on any incarnation of this site since it’s inception in 2004, compositions. It is a group of images that I’m excited about… They are kinda hard to describe, but I suppose they are minimal, graphic compositions, mostly urban landscape or outdoor still life… Make sense? Well, I named the category, compositions, because I couldn’t think of a better name and that is what I like about them and what drives me to create them. It’s what makes them appealing to the eye and one of the things that I try and make strong in all my photographs. I had the opportunity to photograph some old friends recently, however they’ve since had a new addition to the family… They wanted some photos of the new family unit and I was happy to oblige… Check out the beautiful Wartes family…
I’m excited to have a few images in the October issue of 303 Magazine… First off is Chris Stafford of Getscared.com , he is the co-owner of four Denver haunted houses… I photographed him at the 13Floor haunted house at 4120 Brighton Blvd. in Denver… I just went through the 13floor on saturday night and it is really fun, go with a group and have fun getting scared together! Anyway, here’s the tearsheet from the magazine, and a few more that I liked…

So one of my images is on the cover of the August issue of 303 Magazine! I also shot my first fashion spread for 303 in this issue as well, and a couple other images to boot… Thanks to Ron Lopez, Jason Patz, Tracy Bozarth, and Austin Braun for a great shoot! We shot the cover image while working on the fashion spread, so check it out… And check out the mag online or in print to see the spread! (seriously, go check out the magazine if you never have, it’s really well done!)

Local Denver/Boulder band Nautical Mile had a cd release show at the Fox in Boulder and asked me to come along and document the festivities… I hadn’t shot live music for a while so I definitely had to jump at the opportunity… We also had some time to shoot a bunch of more posed portraits of them as well… This is the second time I’ve shot Nautical Mile and a big thanks to them for choosing me again! Had the opportunity to shoot a couple of headshots recently here in Denver… I really enjoy shooting headshots, it may sound cliche but the best part is meeting really interesting people… Sometimes it reminds me of the movie Fight Club where Ed Norton and Brad Pitt’s characters meet for the first time on the airplane and he calls the people that he meets on flights, “single serving friends.” I have a lot of single serving friends and look forward to having many more.

The July issue of 303 Magazine is out and I’ve got a couple images inside… It’s the outdoor issue so my first shot is of a local Beekeeper, Matt Kentner. He is a great guy and schooled me on everything bee during the shoot, it was fascinating. Although after learning all about bees I still didn’t get out of there unscathed as I was dive bombed out of nowhere and stung right on the nose by a rogue bee! Check out the published images and a couple outtakes that I really liked…
I also shot an image to illustrate a fiction piece that ran in the issue… It’s called Wildwood and I chose to photograph a small school bus, which is an image that came to mind after reading the piece. Check it…
