Denver Portraits of a New Yorker

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

She’s actually a coloradoan and she’s actually my sister… But she’s been living in nyc for the past six years… I had never taken a portrait of my sister that I liked through all these years, but I think that I may have accomplished my goal finally… Well in my opinion anyway, I’d like to know what ya’ll think!  Beth is a fashion designer/world traveler and a helluva rad person! Check it-

I think my favs are the 3rd and 4th shots… Whatya think?

Matty

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

The following shots are from a b&w shoot with my good friend Matty… He is an actor so it was nice to get a variety of expressions and poses.  We had a good time down on ol’ south broadway…

I’ve been wanting to get more low tech these days, check out some earlier posts for more info… I have been shooting b&w film lately, however this shoot was done digitally… Still have a hard time with the instant gratification thing… I did modify the way I shoot for this though, jpg instead of raw and in the monochrome setting on the camera, and I only looked at the lcd screen to make sure exposure was correct in each new location… Kept it simple with natural light, took away the technical distractions, and let matty do his thing… Check it out -

New Studio Portraits!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I had a shoot with my friend Kirk in the studio the other day… I wanted to play around with some simple light and we might of got a little carried away with the wide angle lens, but it produced some cool images… I’m not really sure why I’ve been toning all my images lately a blue color, I guess I just like the way it feels… There’s a bunch of these and the second to last one has a profane gesture, but hey, you can take it, right?

Spy

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Check out the previous post for shots of my friend’s band, Ascaris… My friend being the drummer, Spy… Many of you might already know him as he seems to be somewhat of a known character in Denver… Whenever I mention his name someone pipes up about how they know him, so if you don’t know now you know… While I was shooting the band, I snuck in a couple portraits of Spy, check em out -

Denver Slim aka Daddy Long Legs aka Caballo

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

So someone actually answered one of my last posts about the searching for models, which is an ongoing search that will never be quenched by the way… And that person was Luke McAlpine, a fine young lad that you’ll be seeing more of in the Denver creative scene very soon.  He is a marketing major soon to graduate and an up and coming artist, whether he thinks so or not.

We started in the studio and then went downtown for some more… We wandered around, shooting here and there with natural light, my favorite type of shoot.  Then ended with a shot that I’ve envisioned many times as I walked past a certain downtown coffee shop.  Many thanks to luke for a great shoot! Check out a few -

Sometimes I can’t think of a good title for a post, thus the boring date title.  Just a little update…

I reworked one of the portraits of amanda, just a little change to reflect the mood-

Also shot a few more people for the PFC portraits, which I haven’t retouched yet, I’ll post those soon.  However I shot a couple quick portraits of one of the managers, Laurence… He’s quite a character, check it out-
