Big Red
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
Big Red is the nickname of some Irish dude I know that is very fitting as you look at the pics… Actually some Irish dude is my best buddy of 18 years, Seth Elwonger. It’s interesting that this is the first real photoshoot I’ve ever had with the guy… We were even roommates during the first two years I was in college! But when he decided to grow an enormous beard I had to get him in the studio. Seth is a bit of a renaissance man as he’s worked just about every job from driving your drunk ass home in a cab to cooking you a beautiful meal at one of the restaurants he was exec. chef of, to now assisting you with your tech issues. He’s also one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, so if you ever see him out at a local Denver watering hole, buy him a drink and you’ll have a friend for life, just be careful if he asks you shoot a game of pool, he’ll humbly take you out! Check out a few from the shoot-

Triptych Tests
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
For some reason I’ve been taking a lot of close-up head and shoulders type portraits lately… Maybe it’s due to the fact that it’s winter and I’ve been relegated to the studio most of the time, but I have amassed a decent collection of them and I thought I might try and fit some together into some triptychs… After a lot of trial and error I may have two that can be shared with the world… I just fit them together by a feeling of them working together, I can’t really explain it. Let me know what you think, please!

Christmas Portraits
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
I spent Christmas Eve in my hometown of Colorado Springs for our christmas get together at my cousins house… I decided that it would be a great opportunity for me to take some portraits of the family… So I grabbed a black background and my canon flash fitted with a diy beauty dish and set up a makeshift portrait studio in my cousins living room… It was fun to have the family as the peanut gallery as I shot the portraits, it helped get some of them in front of the camera that otherwise wouldn’t have and also helped coax some expressions that I might not have gotten either… So check out some of my favorites-
My cousin Joe, the card trick king!

Uncle Del giving us his stern look, wouldn’t want to anger him, ever!

My cousin Hans, doing his sad santa-

Hans’ son Caden, who immediately sat in the chair and gave this expression for one frame!
